What Do Women Want?

What Do Women Want?

Not long ago I was engaging in negative self talk, giving in to my saboteur and generally feeling crappy about myself. It took years, a journey out of a toxic relationship and so much more to come into my own, to shine my light in the world without feeling bad about it. Without putting myself down or finding flaws in literally everything I did. But with a little (OK, a LOT of) grace and compassion, I embraced me.

The real me. The Rupa who has some major mojo. I forgot who she was for so damn long!

Are you up for a little bit of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’?

Are you up for a little bit of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’?

You might be wondering, “What the hell is that Blog title all about Rupa!?”

Every time I do an amazing client photo shoot, I expand. In so many ways that you all know I talk about. Usually it is deep and meaningful. And, don’t get me wrong, the session I had with Lisa was all that and so much more, because lately, the expansion has also super light and fun!

I guess that makes sense since I am working on ‘pleasure’ quite a bit right now in my life. From just enjoying the blue sky and fluffy clouds to the bumble bee that comes and says hello, to dancing it out to Joan Jett in the kitchen while I make Bella’s food for the day!

The storm behind the magic.

The storm behind the magic.

Last Spring when I headed up to Asheville, I shared all of the fun stuff that happened behind the scenes. We did have a blast but what you all may not know is that before the magic happened, there was a bit of a storm that didn't seem to end until the night before the sessions started.

Between my little Bella having a seizure to the weather deciding it would be frigid beyond belief (it truly felt like it was -20!) to my makeup artist getting so sick she had to cancel two days before … I honestly felt broken. It was rough but, at the same time, I always feel like it is a bit of a test from the Universe for me on strength and resiliency! And I want to say that I think I’ve been passing each time!

This is why I come from New York . . . to work with you!

YOU are the ONLY one who can get me out of my skin, dancing, being silly and allow me to SHOW UP as I am!! I wouldn’t do this for anyone else … just for YOU Rupa!!”

'This is me at 40!'

'This is me at 40!'

When I got a call from Andie late last summer, I was so excited! I remember thinking after we got off the phone, OMG, I want MORE of THIS kind of awesome, badass woman as my client!”

She was turning 40 in December and wanted to celebrate herself as she worked towards self-acceptance and confidence. She decided that she wanted two sessions - a ‘Celebrate You!’ and a ‘Natural Light Nudes’ photo experience and so we worked to make that happen!

We didn’t get a chance to meet for another few weeks but talked several times in between and so when I did finally see her in person, it was as if I knew this woman all along. And what I knew of her long distance was in fact, more than true in real life!

Day. Fucking. Made.

Day. Fucking. Made.

I just got back from a great week in Asheville. I’m exhilarated and excited about the women I met and the photos I took. The good news is that I kept everything alive on Facebook over the week, so here are some posts I shared. By the way, are we friends yet? If not, let’s be friends!

I’m still in travel mode so here’s a snippet of the women and the week.

Post from December 4th:

So how does it feel to RECEIVE?

So how does it feel to RECEIVE?

That was how the conversation with my therapist started yesterday. I told him the exploits of my past week and how I had to re-map my thinking to make the best out of what otherwise would have been massive stress and anxiety years ago.

I had shared with him my story of how last week had been hell on wheels. But through it, it was also a gift to learn how to receive. It had to do with fur babies and the Universe handing down what I needed to walk away with and it is actually pretty awesome!
