Adventures are necessary.

Adventures are necessary.

Ya’all, I went to COWGIRL CAMP recently! It brought back all the awesome memories of my younger days when I used to go set up a tent, make fires and get back to nature in a deep and reconnective way.

This time was no different really even though it was done many, many years later! It was a total badass advenutre! One that I am so grateful I decided to go on for myself!

I drove to Kentucky last week to spend the weekend at Cowgirl Camp at Little Wing Hollow. It was started by Anessa Arehart as her dream has been to connect women organically and to create experiences during the weekend which will do the same. We had everything from a Birding class to Crystals class to live music each evening under the sunset and stars.

Sweet Talkin' Woman | A Session with Michaela

Sweet Talkin' Woman | A Session with Michaela

When I received a message from Michaela that she was going to Asheville and was thinking of taking “a wander” over to Atlanta for a coffee and maybe also a photo shoot, I was like, “YESSS! Let’s do it!”

The studio was still not 100% moved into but we made it work! I had such fun with her and she was totally up for the music and dance piece I love doing during sessions now-a-days! So we did and the song ‘Sweet Talkin’ Woman’ by ELO made the magic happen!

Getting My Life Back

Getting My Life Back

Recently, I received the BEST news ever: "Your test results are gorgeous!"

I don't ever think I have heard a doc use those words when it comes to test results and as they relate to me and my body, and I totally teared up but was also very proud of how far I have come!

We celebrated how far I have come on this emotional and physical journey of mine and I think I may still need to truly celebrate because that is a thing that I am still learning to FEEL...not easy for me!

Showing Up for Yourself

Showing Up for Yourself

I am letting you in on one of my secret pleasures – a bit of hip-hop and ‘70s music – totally dance-worthy and self-care worthy! The songs take me to a place where I don’t have to think for a while! Having fun, dancing, and singing out loud when no one is watching helps you shed the vulnerability in real life. It allows you to be yourself without apologizing for any of your quirks. AND it is just plain FUN!

My ‘Freedom Tour’ . . . all about receiving!

My ‘Freedom Tour’ . . . all about receiving!

I realized today that it was ok to celebrate me and that it was time to receive all that was given yesterday. From wanting to cancel the party earlier in the week to making it happen in less than 48 hours and knowing that I had a connection of some sort with each person who was there to celebrate with me, was such a magical experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Celebrating My Mom's Legacy

Celebrating My Mom's Legacy

I love telling this story because on the days that I’m exhausted and think about all the work it takes to be an entrepreneur and a strong woman, I look to her and see my role model.

The woman who after her second stroke, who had lost her speech, but not her spirit, who pushed me out the door when I didn’t think I could do this thing anymore and said in her limited ability, “GO!!! To your meeting. Go!”

Ya' ready? Here I go again...

Ya' ready? Here I go again...

What a busy week it has been! I just had my very last photo shoot at my Goat Farm studio and it was bittersweet. I’m going to miss this place! We’ve had some seriously magical and transformative moments throughout the years here. Six years this October I took the risk to get that studio — cleaned it up, had an open house, and got a few renters so I could sustain if needed and I did it!

And so here I go again — in more than one way! I have recently gotten a new studio (next week I’ll take ya’all through some behind the scenes moments with the move … a little scary with new changes but FUN!) because the Goat Farm is going to go under redevelopment and we can’t be there after the fall AND I am making regular trips to Asheville as you guys have noticed!

I know, I know, I might as well just move to Asheville already! And MANY of you actually texted and called me to tell me that last time I got back in March! Evidently, I always say, and have been saying for the past 5 or 6 years now every time I return, “I so want to live in Asheville — maybe one day I will.”

This is why I come from New York . . . to work with you!

The next thing I hear is Karmen running towards me and yelling “OH MY GAWDDDD!!!! THIS is why I come from New York to work with you!!! YOU are the ONLY one who can get me out of my skin, dancing, being silly and allow me to SHOW UP as I am!! I wouldn’t do this for anyone else … just for YOU Rupa!!”

Big Magic Outside the Studio

Big Magic Outside the Studio

So much fun. So much joy. But Let’s get to the heart of it shall we? The deeper, personal side of this story … it allowed me to see from the “outside in” and there were big epiphanies.
