ALWAYS A REBEL.

ALWAYS A REBEL.

Are you a rebel?

A rule breaker?

In my line of work, I meet some of the most badass women - women who don’t censor themselves in their personal or professional lives and I have to say, it’s pretty damn refreshing. Today I want you to meet Lisa.

Lisa is a bomb ass organization coach over at Clear Calm Space. She helps women declutter their spaces and lives so they find true joy in living again.

A love note to my women...

A love note to my women...

To all of you beautiful women, my clients, who have trusted me over the years,

I can’t even begin to  tell you how much it means to me your trust in me -- knowing that I will hold a sacred space for you to let you shine and transform. And what a beautiful thing it is to watch and witness when I see you who up and ready to shine, ready to own your beauty, your body, your gorgeous self.

I love it when you see yourself as a woman who is sensual and light and you create a magic along the way. I feel like my job is only to hold that lantern or in this case, capture that beautiful energy of you on camera as you deep down, know how to do the rest.

What Do Women Want?

What Do Women Want?

Not long ago I was engaging in negative self talk, giving in to my saboteur and generally feeling crappy about myself. It took years, a journey out of a toxic relationship and so much more to come into my own, to shine my light in the world without feeling bad about it. Without putting myself down or finding flaws in literally everything I did. But with a little (OK, a LOT of) grace and compassion, I embraced me.

The real me. The Rupa who has some major mojo. I forgot who she was for so damn long!

Are you up for a little bit of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’?

Are you up for a little bit of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’?

You might be wondering, “What the hell is that Blog title all about Rupa!?”

Every time I do an amazing client photo shoot, I expand. In so many ways that you all know I talk about. Usually it is deep and meaningful. And, don’t get me wrong, the session I had with Lisa was all that and so much more, because lately, the expansion has also super light and fun!

I guess that makes sense since I am working on ‘pleasure’ quite a bit right now in my life. From just enjoying the blue sky and fluffy clouds to the bumble bee that comes and says hello, to dancing it out to Joan Jett in the kitchen while I make Bella’s food for the day!

Learning to F.L.Y.

Learning to F.L.Y.

I found a video as I was cleaning out tons of stuff and it made me smile! It was so weird seeing myself laugh and smile and be happy after so long of not! The night we shot it, I cried because I hadn’t seen myself in that space for so very long and I couldn’t believe that it was actually me!

And today, just a few months later, the two words that came to mind as I watched it again, this time with a smile on my face, were: sexy and fierce.

I won’t lie. Sexy had always felt like something or someone I had to be for another person. I think this was my wiring growing up. And then as I started owning who I was and started loving myself more fiercely, like true self compassion and finding voice without apology, this new way of being felt super sexy.

Destination: Pleasure.

Destination: Pleasure.

Last weekend, I was told to go find pleasure to add to my day…

So I did just that. I put the top down, grabbed a coffee, and decided I’d enjoy a drive with the wind in my hair and the sun on my shoulders and the music turned all the way up!

Destination…nowhere! Perfect!

And as I headed out on my ‘Destination Nowhere’ day out, little did I know that there actually was a destination up ahead (but more on that in a bit.), but what I did promise myself in that moment is that I would do it in a way so it all felt downstream.

Dancing and zhoozhing her way to magic.

Dancing and zhoozhing her way to magic.

When I spoke to her weeks ago, she said, "I only want to work with YOU and I cannot wait to do it!" And then she promptly booked and made plans to travel to Atlanta for her photo shoot. Judy Martin Brinkman -- I was so honored to capture your laughter and joy -- you are amazing!!

And what fun we had together! I was sure I'd get smacked down after the dancing and the zhoozhing and so much more! BUT here is what happens when we do all that -- MAGIC!!

I am learning that helping women get OUT of their bodies through movement and laughter, actually allows them to FEEL into their bodies and the shine comes through!!

Sweet Talkin' Woman | A Session with Michaela

Sweet Talkin' Woman | A Session with Michaela

When I received a message from Michaela that she was going to Asheville and was thinking of taking “a wander” over to Atlanta for a coffee and maybe also a photo shoot, I was like, “YESSS! Let’s do it!”

The studio was still not 100% moved into but we made it work! I had such fun with her and she was totally up for the music and dance piece I love doing during sessions now-a-days! So we did and the song ‘Sweet Talkin’ Woman’ by ELO made the magic happen!

Getting My Life Back

Getting My Life Back

Recently, I received the BEST news ever: "Your test results are gorgeous!"

I don't ever think I have heard a doc use those words when it comes to test results and as they relate to me and my body, and I totally teared up but was also very proud of how far I have come!

We celebrated how far I have come on this emotional and physical journey of mine and I think I may still need to truly celebrate because that is a thing that I am still learning to FEEL...not easy for me!

Showing Up for Yourself

Showing Up for Yourself

I am letting you in on one of my secret pleasures – a bit of hip-hop and ‘70s music – totally dance-worthy and self-care worthy! The songs take me to a place where I don’t have to think for a while! Having fun, dancing, and singing out loud when no one is watching helps you shed the vulnerability in real life. It allows you to be yourself without apologizing for any of your quirks. AND it is just plain FUN!
