Hey everyone! Caitlin, here. Rupa’s trusty assistant and right hand girl (behind the scenes!). See what I do here.
With Rupa busy in Asheville all week, I figured I would take over this week’s blog post. She’s driving back to Atlanta but every. single. time she goes to Asheville, she says it’s on the “possibly move to” list, so we’ll see how long it is until she doesn’t head back to Atlanta. I’m in Massachusetts so it all sounds good to me at this point! Winter decided to show up late to the party in February and it hasn’t wanted to leave yet!
Anyway, have ya’ll seen how much this woman has been doing? I mean seriously, I think I’ve met my match in Rupa. Her mind moves as fast as mine. She’s always coming up with great new ideas, things to promote and ways to serve her clients. One thing remains though, and that is her passion and drive to capture the heart and soul of each person she photographs. And man, does she deliver or what?! I mean seriously, the behind the scenes sneak peaks speak for themself. And they aren’t even the edited versions!
See, Rupa is special. She is more than a photographer (or a client) in my eyes. She has become a dear friend and sometimes I feel like I should be paying her for the advice and encouragement she gives me! And so I can understand how women keep coming back to her and sending their sisters, friends, colleagues to her. She brings passion with her and provides an experience second to none for each person she works with. She is able to capture photos that are different from traditional head shots - you know the ones that get your ideal client calling you, the ones that show who you really are. From her entrepreneurial shoots to her pet sessions, the woman is amazing.
See what I mean? It was freezing ass cold and she’s trying to convince Janet to pretend it’s warm! I’m pretty sure there was a lot of cussing going on under her breath at Rupa! But the shots speak for themselves as they always do.
There is something to be said when your photographer becomes your friend. You feel more comfortable in front of the lens and confidence shines through, allowing you to be vulnerable, yet show up where you most need to.
The secret sauce to her whole business is allowing women to feel safe, comfortable and brave. It’s what sets Rupa apart from every other photographer out there and makes her work shine through.
She’s also a great person to take lessons from. Basically, I’ve been eating chocolate every night in the bath tub after my kids go to bed and it has been GLORIOUS! Turns out, I needed to give myself permission to do that. So thanks Rupa, for being kick ass at all the things. But mostly, for being a friend and mentor and for holding that space for me.
Be on the lookout for more Asheville photos coming soon!
